From founding a small boutique in Kent with just £100 to building an internationally recognised fashion empire, Karen’s journey is a masterclass in creativity, resilience, and business acumen.

Karen co-founded her eponymous brand in 1981, quickly becoming known for her sophisticated, tailored womenswear that graced wardrobes worldwide. Over the decades, the brand grew into an iconic name in British fashion, with a presence in over 65 countries. However, after years of leading the company, Karen made the bold decision to exit the business in 2004, following its sale to Icelandic bank Kaupthing. This marked the end of an era, with Karen stepping away from the brand that bore her name.

Despite this, Karen’s entrepreneurial spirit never wavered. In the years following her exit, she was faced with the challenge of rebuilding her career and redefining her identity outside of the brand. Rather than retreating from the world of fashion, Karen embraced reinvention, channelling her expertise into new ventures and mentoring the next generation of entrepreneurs.
